Celtic Jewelled Cross Brooch Pendant by Miracle (SOLD)

This wonderful vintage piece by Miracle really has it all!  First it is set with a multitude of glass gems, each one trying really hard to look real - we have a round cabouchon faux banded red agate in the centre, there are four shaped glass pieces around this - faux jade, faux amethyst, faux blue john and a faux banded black and white agate.  Next, on a Celtic swirly border, are smaller round cabouchon stones - a faux malachite, faux carnelian, faux turquoise and a little piece of art glass in spotted brown toffee tones - how quirky!   The brooch is set in a pewter toned metal which has an engraved finish on both the front and back. I cannot see a ‘Miracle' signature but this is definitely one of their designs.  The key influences for Miracle are traditional Celtic designs which go back to antiquity and Victorian Pebble Jewellery. This was made popular by Queen Victoria when she visited Scotland and wore silver and gold jewellery set with the natural gemstones found locally, especially cairngorms and agates, citrines, rock crystals and amethysts. This Brooch is just over 2 inches in diameter.  The brooch fastens with a secure roll over type clasp. I should mention that the pin on the back has a very slight bend but it does not detract from its function.  Here is the bonus, this lovely item can also be worn as a pendant as it has a loop which can be threaded with a chain to make a great necklace.  This is most likely a vintage 1960's piece.  A perfect item for collectors of vintage costume jewellery, collectors of Miracle or Celtic jewels.
