Edwardian to 1920s Hair Ornament - Diamante Diadem or Sew-on trim (SOLD)

This lovely diamante hair ornament dates from the transitional time at the beginning of the 20th Century.  Maybe  from the Edwardian period or may be as late as the roaring twenties!  It is a DIadem or Head jewel and it would have been worn at the forehead on a silk band  or secured by a slik ribbon adding sparkling diamond effect to any hairstyle.  The more daring Flapper would have had a bob or shingle haircut - most racy at the time!  The more traditional may have still had her long hair and this hair ornament would have sat in place at the forehead whilst the long tresses were wound up into a bun at the back.  The hair jewel is made of silvered brass with filigree work and there are 27 individual faceted glass crystal stones making it sparkle.  Each ' diamond' has been hand set and is held in place by 4 claws.  The hair ornament in articulated to allow it to sit perfectly when worn.  To the back of the jewel there are two closed loops, these would have been used to sew the hair ornament onto a thin or wide ribbon.  The diadem could be used as a sew on dress ornament - it could be used to add vintage sparkle to a hat, belt, handbag or frock - just tack it in place and wear it to the Christmas party!  This hair ornament would also be perfect for bridal use on its own or to be incorporated into a hair band with flowers or feathers.  The vintage hair ornament measures 11cms by 4 cms at its widest point.  It is in very good order with a little aged patina to the metalwork which  just adds to its antique appeal.
