Edwardian to 1920s Crystal Necklace - Antique Crystal Necklace (SOLD)
Here is a beautiful green facet cut antique crystal necklace. This is a piece of original jewellery from the period between the elegant British Edwardian age at the very beginning of the 20th Century up to the emergence of Art Deco styling around the 1920's. The crystal necklace is wired, which means that the hand cut glass beads are held together with brass pins and loops. The necklace has a simple style to it with oblong and round beads used for most of the design. In common with many necklaces from the early 20th Century this necklace has a facet cut drop with a diamante set spacer bead. The large two green beads in the centre of the necklace have been facet cut on the cross and this was a design that was used to great effect in costume jewellery in the Art Deco area. I am fairly certain that this necklace was made and designed in Continental Europe, possibly France or more than likely Bohemia. Now for the size : - this antique necklace is 45 cms long with the central drop part measuring approx 4 cms and the largest green crystal bead being 2 cms by 1.5 cms approx. This necklace is in very good to excellent order with no flea bites or nicks on the beads and just a bit of dullness to the brass metalwork. All in all this is a lovely design and a really wearable vintage costume bead necklace from the Edwardian to Art Deco times.
